Liz is currently referring patients of all ages to specialized infant chiropractor, Dr. Andrea Burke, at The Health Practice in Omaha, Nebraska, for full-body, hands-on assessment and treatment.

For individuals with speech delays or concerns, Liz recommends they have a comprehensive assessment with one of the following providers
Myofunctional Therapy Assessment
Age 4+
Typically, an initial orofacial myofunctional therapy visit will consist of photos of the mouth, face, and posture; evaluation of oral and facial growth patterns; functional assessments of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and accessory muscles; swallowing patterns; speech; and more.
Please note: although speech and swallowing are assessed, myofunctional therapy is practiced apart from speech therapy and/or swallowing/feeding therapy. Referrals to appropriate providers will be recommended based on individual needs.
Myofunctional Therapy
Recommended as needed after a comprehensive assessment is completed.
Exercises and stretches will be discussed in-depth with demonstrations to address any muscular dysfunctions of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and accessory muscles.
Habits impacting sleep, growth and development, and systemic health will also be addressed, such as snoring, thumb sucking, and mouth breathing.
The length of treatment and goals of the therapy program are individualized to each patient's needs.
Tethered Oral Tissue Release
Surgical release(s) of tethered oral tissues, such as tongue and/or lip ties, are recommended based on individual need.
For optimal outcomes, myofunctional therapy should be completed both before and after a release procedure.
